Creating the perfect basket wall can be overwhelming. When you set out to create this fun, textured wall art, follow these simple tips to get you started.
Consider Placement and Shape
Before you even begin, consider the placement of your basket wall. You should plan to make this a statement piece on your wall, just like a large canvas on a wall. That said, it shouldn't consume your entire wall. Less is more.
Build your baskets into a rectangular shape (see diagram below) with the flow moving from one corner to the other. This helps you get a natural shape.
Start Small and Start in the Middle
Starting in the center of your wall, use a small or medium basket, saving your largest basket for one side of the wall. Use different basket shapes and color to create interest. Note, you don't want to use too many colors in your design, as this could be overwhelming.
Build Your Layers
As you build your wall, layer the baskets. Baskets should be touching, overlapping even. Place baskets at different angles, heights, and depths. Using different nail lengths can help you achieve this.
A basket wall shouldn't feel overwhelming. Even three baskets layered is a basket wall! Build according to your space, leaving plenty of wall space around the baskets to make it the focal point of the room without it overwhelming the space.
